Vehicle, Garage Break-Ins Reported Friday Night

Three unlocked vehicles and a garage were entered over the weekend.

A 57-year-old Milwaukee man allegedly attempted to enter a garage in the 4700 block of North Idlewild Avenue at 5 a.m. Saturday.

The man fled on a bicycle through neighboring yards and was later captured in the 1000 block of East Capitol Drive. He was taken into custody and transported to the Milwaukee County Criminal Justice Facility. He was cited with two counts of loitering and one count of resisting an officer.

The attempted break-in was one of four theft-related incidents reported that night:

  • An unlocked car was reportedly entered between 10:45 p.m. Friday night and 8 am. Saturday morning in the 4900 block North Cumberland Boulevard. Nothing was found missing from the vehicle.
  • Two pairs of sunglasses and a GPS device were reported stolen from two unlocked vehicles in a driveway in the 5500 block of North Diversey Boulevard. The theft is believed to have occurred between 11 p.m. Friday and 1 p.m. Saturday.
  • An unlocked car was entered between 5 p.m. Friday and 8 a.m. Saturday in the 4800 block of North Oakland Avenue. Nothing was found missing from the vehicle.
