Two Women Robbed in Broad Daylight Thursday

Three teenage boys are suspected of forcibly taking a purse and groceries from two women in separate incidents Thursday afternoon.

Two women were robbed in broad daylight Thursday afternoon in separate incidents on Birch and Lake View avenues.

The first robbery, which took place at about 5 p.m., occurred on Birch Avenue near Shoreland Avenue. A 29-year-old woman walking down the sidewalk said a young man wearing a yellow bandana over his mouth approached her and demanded the two shopping bags in her hands.

The suspect forcibly took one of the bags from her, and she surrendered the second bag. He then ran into the alley of the 5400 block of Shoreland Avenue, where a light blue mini-van was waiting for him. The vehicle headed south through the alley.
