PD: Thief Slips in Unlocked Door, Snatches Kindle

Fox Point man told police the first time he noticed his back door open he thought it was the wind. Then he noticed the missing Kindle.

An 81-year-old Fox Point man is the most recent victim in a rash of thefts from North Shore homes while the owners were nearby.

The called Fox Point police and said on Oct. 15, sometime in the morning, he noticed the rear door to his home in the 7500 block of North Seneca Road was open and unlocked, according to police reports.

He told police both he and his wife didn’t think much of the open door since they thought the wind may have pushed it open during the night, the report said. However, when he began to look for his Kindle Fire tablet, valued at $100, on Oct. 21, he couldn’t find it. He said he left the Kindle in his study which is near the back door that they found open according to the police report. He told police he’s missing a phone charger as well, valued at $10, also from the desk drawer in his study.

Police found no signs of forced entry at either the front or back doors.

Without any further information, this case will be considered inactive.
