Purse Stolen From Home in Broad Daylight

A Sylvan Avenue resident was doing yard work on Thursday morning when a burglar entered the front door and took a purse from the house.

The woman was not able to get a description of the burglar, who struck sometime between 10 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the street's 700 block. After snatching the purse from a chair near the front door, the burglar used two of her credit cards and a debit card to make fraudulent purchases in the area.

The front door was open, and a screen door was closed but unlocked.

Whitefish Bay police do not have a suspect at this time, but Captain Ron Stefanski said they will trace the credit card purchases to see if there are any nearby surveillance cameras that could link them to a suspect. Police will also be contacting a Milwaukee-area detective group to see if other departments have information that could be of value.
