Political Signs Stolen on Both Sides of Political Fence

A Scott Walker sign and a "Recall Walker" sign were both stolen in Whitefish Bay last week.

As the recall election between Gov. Scott Walker and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett heats up, stolen lawn signs – – have become an issue in the media.

In Whitefish Bay, police recently responded to two cases of stolen signs – one supporting Walker and the other calling for him to be recalled from office.

A Walker supporter in the 600 block of East Day Avenue called police after an 18-year-old Milwaukee man attempted to take a Scott Walker sign from her yard at 6:37 p.m. May 15. The man was taken into custody and cited for trespassing.

In the 5000 block of Berkeley Boulevard, a red "Recall Walker" sign was stolen Saturday night or early Sunday morning. A neighbor saw a teenage boy walk into the yard and take something at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday and then run back to a car with four other teenage occupants.
