Political Signs Stolen on Both Sides of Political Fence

A Scott Walker sign and a "Recall Walker" sign were both stolen in Whitefish Bay last week.

As the recall election between Gov. Scott Walker and Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett heats up, stolen lawn signs – – have become an issue in the media.

In Whitefish Bay, police recently responded to two cases of stolen signs – one supporting Walker and the other calling for him to be recalled from office.

A Walker supporter in the 600 block of East Day Avenue called police after an 18-year-old Milwaukee man attempted to take a Scott Walker sign from her yard at 6:37 p.m. May 15. The man was taken into custody and cited for trespassing.

In the 5000 block of Berkeley Boulevard, a red "Recall Walker" sign was stolen Saturday night or early Sunday morning. A neighbor saw a teenage boy walk into the yard and take something at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday and then run back to a car with four other teenage occupants.

Has anyone tried to abscond with your Gladys Huber sign,Bob?

Thanks for asking, Jay. I did have to chase off an irate Arthur Kohl-Riggs supporter who was urging his pug to do its business on Gladys, but that was before the primary. Since then she's been pretty much left alone.

Just saw my first "Recall Santa (Because I didn't Get What I Wanted)" sign while coasting down Pill Hill. Excellent.

Thanks for the 'change in scenery' alert Bob. I've only seen the bumper sticker version. I'll saddle-up and peddle past later today;FedEx or Bust.
