Police Report: Stolen Crutches, Stolen Groceries

What kind of a person steals crutches?

A 52-year-old man reported his crutches were stolen last week in the 200 block of East Lexington Boulevard.

The man told police the crutches were leaning against his vehicle in the driveway when they were stolen sometime between 5:40 a.m. and 5:45 a.m on Aug. 16.

The man said he noticed an older black pick-up truck leaving the area at the time.

  • A 27-year-old Whitefish Bay man accidentally overdosed in the 100 block of East Chateau Place on Aug. 17. He was transported by ambulance to an area hospital and was later charged with drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.
  • A 48-year-old Milwaukee woman was cited for retail theft after stealing three bottles of alcohol from about 4 p.m. on Aug. 18. The next day, on Friday afternoon, a 50-year-old Wauwatosa woman was seen leaving the store without paying for the items in the cart. She was mailed a citation for retail theft.
  • In a scam similar to the scheme, a "Dave Johnson from corporate" called at about 7 p.m. Friday instructing an employee to cash out $1,500 to replace the money a female cstomer lost from her wallet at the store. The employee was unable to get any further information from the suspect.
  • A 22-year-old Milwaukee woman was cited with drunken driving in the 5100 block of North Idlewild Avenue early Monday morning. She was also cited with operating after revocation, operating without insurance and failing to change her address.
