Police Report: More Auto Break-ins, Vehicle Theft

The latest reports from the Whitefish Bay Police Department.

After several unlocked garages were , another four vehicle break-ins and two vehicle thefts were reported this past week.

Two vehicles were stolen sometime Thursday night or early Friday morning, according to police reports.

One vehicle was stolen from an unlocked garage n the 5400 block of North Hollywood Avenue. The vehicle was later recovered in Milwaukee without damage, but a cell phone was missing. Another vehicle was stolen from a driveway in the 2000 block of East Glendale Avenue. The vehicle was left unlocked with the keys underneath the driver side floor mat. The car was later recovered.

During the same time period, three other thefts from vehicles were reported.

  • A GPS device was stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 5200 block of Hollywood Avenue.
  • A blouse, boots and a gift card were stolen from an unlocked car in the 4900 block of North Bartlett Avenue. The total loss is estimated at $70.
  • Two portable DVD players were stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 600 block of East Lexington Boulevard.

Earlier in the week, on Tuesday, an unknown person smashed the front passenger window of a car in the 4900 block of North Marlborough Drive, stealing a $300 CD player from the vehicle. The theft was believed to have taken place sometime between 7:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m.

In other police news:

  • A 33-year-old Milwaukee man was tased on April 11 when he resisted arrest by Whitefish Bay police officers. Police originally stopped the man because he was riding a bicycle in the 800 block of East Silver Spring Drive at midnight without a headlamp. He provided a false name and resisted arrest, which led officers to tase him. He received two citations for resisting an officer and one citation for a bicycle violation.
  • A concerned passerby flagged down a police officer at Lydell Avenue and Chateau Place Tuesday night to report a possible domestic disturbance in the 100 block of Chateau Place. After investigation, police determined the noise came from two boys playing video games. One of the boys was “screaming like a girl,” causing the confusion.
  • A 58-year-old Whitefish Bay man was cited with disorderly conduct after approaching children at and offering them drinks from his water bottle.
  • A teacher at reported to the school's police officer that a Twitter account was made in his name without his consent.
  • Two Milwaukee men, ages 22 and 23, were caught smoking marijuana at at about 5 p.m. Wednesday. The 23-year-old was cited for possession of the drug.
  • A bike valued at $150 was stolen from the bike racks between noon April 9 and 3 p.m. April 11.
  • A 29-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for physically assaulting his girlfriend, a 29-year-old Whitefish Bay woman, on April 11. The woman stated she had a swollen eye, bruises and choke marks on her neck. The man pleaded not guilty to one count of misdemeanor battery in court Saturday and will proceed to a pre-trial conference on May 4.
