Police Report: Five Accidents in Slippery Conditions

The latest news from the Whitefish Bay Police Department.

The heavy snowfall yesterday and today has led to several car accidents in Whitefish Bay.

A 17-year-old Milwaukee man lost control of his vehicle and struck a tree at North Lake Drive and East Glendale Avenue at 11:34 a.m. Sunday. He was cited for driving too fast for conditions.

Less than two hours later, a 17-year-old Fox Point man also slid off the road and struck a small village tree at 1:03 p.m. on Lake Drive, near .

Earlier in the day, a 27-year-old Whitefish Bay man had minor damage to his vehicle after he spun out at East Fairmount Avenue and North Bartlett Avenue at 10:04 a.m. Sunday.

A 23-year-old Brookfield man’s car was stuck in the snow at 5:41 p.m. Sunday afternoon as he was trying to cross Hampton Road to Berkeley Boulevard. The vehicle was removed from the snow pile.

Today, a vehicle slid into a snowbank at 9 a.m. on North Lake Drive and East Fairmount Avenue. The driver declined assistance, as she had called a towing company.

In other police news:

  • Three teenagers were cited at, 240 E. Hampton Rd., for stealing $50 in merchandise, including $32 in socks. Two 18-year-old men and a 17-year-old man, all from Milwaukee, were cited for retail theft, and one of the 18-year-old men was taken into custody on a warrant.
  • A 49-year-old Milwaukee woman’s blood alcohol content was twice the legal limit when she was pulled over in the 200 block of West Hampton Avenue at 3:13 a.m. Friday morning. She was cited for operating without insurance and deviating from the designated lane.
  • A 24-year-old Whitefish Bay man was arrested for his first drunken driving offense at 2:58 a.m. Friday morning in the 5500 block of North Santa Monica Boulevard. His blood alcohol content was 0.15.

  • A 90-year-old woman reported a 60- to 70-year-old woman with an accent stole roughly $275 from her home after she was let into the home. The woman introduced herself as a new neighbor and was invited into the Lydell Avenue home Thursday afternoon to talk for about 40 minutes. Police checked with four neighbors, but none of them reported talking with the woman.
  • Police suspect a 17-year-old girl is responsible for stealing from two of her classmates at . School surveillance video shows the girl stealing $25 in cash from one classmate’s backpack and $10 in cash from another classmate’s backpack on Feb. 14. A citation is pending.
  • A 49-year-old Cudahy man said someone attempted to steal a catalytic converter from his Mercedes sports utility vehicle Thursday afternoon, resulting in $83 in damage. The vehicle was parked in the municipal lot behind Sport ‘N Cuts, 402 E. Silver Spring Dr.
