Police Report: Couple's Fight Turns Into Foot Race

Drunken driving, theft from vehicle also included in recent reports from the Whitefish Bay Police Department.

An initial police report of a man running down Silver Spring Drive with a woman's keys turned out to have a longer back story than expected.

The 33-year-old Glendale woman told police her 36-year-old boyfriend, of Whitefish Bay, called her about 20 times at work with threatening messages on Aug. 27, so she decided to drive to his house in the 5500 block of North Kent Avenue that night to break up with him and get her house keys back. When he refused to let her into the house, she told police she kicked his door open, and after a scuffle, he ran northbound with her keys onto Silver Spring Drive at 11 p.m.

The man later told officers he threw her keys into a nearby Dumpster, but he refused to help officers locate the keys. As officers were about to seat him in the back of the squad, he offered to help locate the keys and officers found the keys in some bushes.
