Police Report: Car Thief Hits House, Car During Escape From Scene

The latest reports from the Whitefish Bay Police Department

After stealing a vehicle, an unknown suspect drove the car into another car and a house while driving the vehicle away from the scene early Friday morning.

The car was stolen with the use of the car keys in the 4700 block of North Marlborough Drive at 1 a.m. Friday. As the driver fled the scene, the car struck a house and another car in the area. The driver then parked the car in a nearby driveway and then exited from the rear yard of a neighboring home.

  • Volunteers on both sides of the Alberta Darling recall effort have been hitting the streets with literature and petition papers in the North Shore over the last several weeks, but the debate has never gone past the front door of a home until last week. A homeowner in the 5900 block of North Lake Drive said someone opened their front door and placed political information in their home regarding Alberta Darling at 5:42 p.m. on March 12.
  • A 49-year-old man living in the 4900 block of North Santa Monica agreed to remove campaign signs for Sen. Alberta Darling and Gov. Scott Walker from his lawn on the morning of March 13 because they violated the village's campaign sign ordinance.
  • A 59-year-old Bayside woman allegedly drove her green Honda up the center of the median on Silver Spring Drive, then struck a power box, a tree and damaged several decorative bricks on the median. The woman then turned south onto North Berkeley Boulevard, exited the vehicle, waved and smiled at witnesses and left the area at about 7:51 p.m. March 12. Two witnesses reported the accident, and she was cited for failing to notify police of accident.
  • A 17-year-old boy was cited for possessing alcohol on the grounds of Whitefish Bay High School at 3:32 p.m. Tuesday. After his mother was notified, he was released from the school, as he was not under the influence at the time.
  • Four boys were cited with drinking violations after one of the boys stood up through the sun roof of the vehicle at Silver Spring Drive and Lake Drive at 3:36 p.m. March 13. The driver, a 19-year-old Cedarburg man, was cited for abosolute sobriety, and the other passengers, two 19-year-old men and a 20-year-old man, all from Milwaukee, were cited with underage drinking.
  • A Sheboygan plumbing contractor reported $2,325 worth of portable tools was stolen from his unlocked van at 100 W. Silver Spring Dr. at about 1 p.m. March 14.
  • A 47-year-old Whitefish Bay man was cited for his second drunken driving offense and hit and run after he struck a parked vehicle in the 5200 block of North Santa Monica Boulevard at 7:49 p.m. Wednesday and continued driving.
  • A 39-year-old Mequon man was cited for his first drunken driving offense, possession of open intoxicants and hit and run after hitting a parked vehicle in the 5200 block of North Bay Ridge Avenue at 9:51 p.m. Saturday.
  • A 42-year-old Glendale man was warned by police after he reportedly stole three bags of cheese popcorn totaling $6.31 from What’s Poppin’ at 404 E. Henry Clay St.  on the afternoon of March 12. Officers spoke with the man and the matter was resolved.
  • A 51-year-old Oak Creek man was cited with his first drunken driving offense at North Kent Avenue and Silver Spring Drive at 11:46 a.m. March 14.
  • A 17-year-old Fox Point man reported his driver’s side car window was broken and his car speakers were taken out of his car in the parking lot Thursday night.
