Police Report: Captured Thieves, OWIs and More Stolen Yard Signs

The latest reports from the Whitefish Bay Police Department.

An 18-year-old Milwaukee man was taken into custody early Tuesday morning after officers responded to a burglary call from Fox Point police.

At about 1 a.m. Tuesday, Fox Point police reported a burglary suspect fled northbound from the 6400 block of North Santa Monica Boulevard on a bike, and a Whitefish Bay officer soon found a matching suspect in a driveway in the 6200 block of Santa Monica.

The suspect also fled Whitefish Bay police, but he was later apprehended by a squad at School Road and Lake Drive. The man said he stole the bike from an open garage near Union Cemetery.

The man was wearing a home arrest bracelet, as he has a felony warrant from the Division of Juvenile Corrections.

Police departments from Fox Point, Bayside and River Hills took the boy into custody, and he was cited for loitering and criminal damage to property. If police confirm the bike was stolen in Whitefish Bay, he could be mailed a citation or possibly face a burglary charge.

In other Whitefish Bay police news:

  • A 49-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested for his fourth drunken driving offense in the 4600 block of North Elkhart Avenue at about 3:30 a.m. Monday. In addition to the OWI charge, he was also cited for imprudent speed, operating without proof of insurance, operating without a muffler and failure to display license plate.
  • A 22-year-old Shorewood man was arrested for his first drunken driving offense at about 2 a.m. Thursday morning in the 4800 block of North Lake Drive. His blood alcohol content measured 0.16.
  • A 23-year-old man was found lying on the bathroom floor with a syringe in his arm after a drug overdose at 7 a.m. Friday in the 5700 block of North Santa Monica Blvd. Paramedics transported the man to an area hospital, and he was then taken to the Milwaukee County Criminal Justice Facility. He has been charged with possession of cocaine. The man was previously found guilty of possession of narcotics and two counts of burglary in 2009.
  • Three Sandy Pasch campaign signs were stolen in the 5500 block of North Lake Dr. sometime between 9 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday.
