Police Report: Attempted Backpack Robbery

A high-school-aged boy attempted to steal a backpack from an 11-year-old boy near Whitefish Bay High School last week.

According to a Whitefish Bay police report, the high school student allegedly ran up behind the boy and attempted to forcibly take his backpack from him at 3:45 p.m. on May 30. The 11-year-old boy was able to run away without his backpack being stolen. As he was running away, the other boy threw something at him that left a minor abrasion on his calf.

  • An intoxicated man attempted to enter a house in the 6000 block of Lake Drive at 4:54 a.m. on May 29. Whitefish Bay police responded and cited him for loitering and underage drinking.
  • A small amount of marijuana and paraphernalia was located in a K9 narcotics search of vehicles parked around Whitefish Bay High School at 12:47 p.m. on May 30. The male student was taken into custody and cited for possession.
  • A man reported that, while at BMO Harris Bank, he lent $225 in cash to a Milwaukee man who stated he needed the money for van repairs and would pay him back the next day. The man never returned the payment. Whitefish Bay police advised the man it was a civil matter, because he willingly lent the man money.
  • Whitefish Bay police found a man and a woman trying to light a fire on the beach of Big Bay Park at 2:47 a.m. on May 30. Both of them were warned for open burning and illegal parking, and were cited for violating park hours.
