Police Report: A Water Main Break and Six Drunken Drivers

The latest news from the Whitefish Bay Police Department

A large water main break was reported in the 4700 block of North Idlewild Avenue at 9:32 p.m. Saturday.

Water flooded across the street and came up through several lawns. Police set up barricades to block off the road, and the Department of Public Works and a private company were contacted to repair the break.

  • A resident on the 4800 block of North Elkhart Avenue reported gold and semi-precious jewels were stolen from her home at 1:43 p.m. Wednesday. The 51-year-old resident is compiling a list of missing items to give to the police.
  • It might be a prank or it might not. But one thing is for sure - something didn’t smell right on the 4900 block of North Berkeley Boulevard, where a 76-year-old man complained about a large bag of feces near his garbage Sunday morning.
  • An apartment dweller on the 5000 block of North Marlborough Drive reported hearing five gunshots at 2 a.m. Wednesday. Another resident said the noise may have came from his television. Police did not determine the cause of the noise.
  • A 54-year-old Whitefish Bay man registered a blood alcohol content of 0.498 when he was arrested for his fourth drunk driving charge at 3:38 p.m. Thursday in the 5200 block of North Kent. He was taken to St. Mary’s, then he was cleared and transported to the Milwaukee County Criminal Justice Facility. He was released and ordered to the Milwaukee County district attorney’s office in one month.

The Whitefish Bay Police Department arrested four other drunken drivers over the weekend, and another earlier in the week

  • A 50-year-old Whitefish Bay woman had a blood alcohol content of 0.28 when she was pulled over by police at 5:32 p.m Sunday at East Chateau Place and North Idlewild Avenue. She was issued a citation for her first offense of operating while intoxicated, prohibited alcohol content and operating left of center.
  • A 19-year-old Los Angeles man was arrested at 3:46 a.m. Saturday morning for a prohibited blood alcohol content of 0.10 while driving in the 5100 block of North Woodburn Street. Bail was taken on a valid warrant with another police department, and he was transferred over to a relative later that morning.
  • A 45-year-old Milwaukee woman was arrested for disorderly conduct and a first drunken driving offense at 6:14 p.m. Sunday on the 2100 block of East Glendale Avenue. Police were initially called to the scene for a threat complaint.
  • A 33-year-old Whitefish Bay man registered a blood alcohol content of 0.13 when police pulled him over at East Hampton Road and North Wildwood Avenue at 3 a.m. Saturday morning. In addition to a drunken driving citation, he was also issued citations for operating after revocation/suspension, operating without proof of insurance and prohibited alcohol content.
  • Earlier in the week on Jan. 11, a 26-year-old Milwaukee man was arrested with his third drunken driving offense on East Fairmount Avenue and North Sheffield Avenue. After failing to stop at a stop sign on North Malborough Drive and East Chateau Place, officers stopped and tested him to determine he had a blood alcohol content of 0.11.
