Police Report: Unwanted Garage Entries, Smashed Car Window

The latest police reports from the Whitefish Bay Police Department include vehicle entries, garage entries and an attempted snowman explosion.

Police received at least three reports of someone snooping around garages and vehicles in the 4900 block of Newhall Street last week:

  • A resident in the 4900 block of Newhall Street saw an unknown person exit his neighbor's garage through an unlocked service door at about 4 a.m. on Feb. 5. The homeowner reported the incident to police later that day, and told police nothing was missing from the garage.
  • Another resident on the block reported loose change was stolen from their vehicle at about 4:50 a.m. the same day. The car was parked in an unlocked garage.
  • The next night, another resident told police that someone entered their unattached garage through an unlocked entry door and exited by opening the overhead double door. Nothing was taken from the incident, which the homeowner believes happened between 12:30 a.m. and 6 a.m. on Feb. 6.

In other Whitefish Bay police news:

  • The front passenger window of a Subaru station wagon was broken out between 3 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on Feb. 6 while parked near Starbucks. Nothing was taken from the vehicle and the contents were not rummaged through.
  • Three juveniles reportedly tried to light something in a snowman at 11:28 a..m. Saturday near Birch Avenue and Berkeley Boulevard. The juveniles ran from the scene, but police recovered an unlit pack of blackjack firecrackers from the snowman.
  • Police found four packages of suspected synthetic marijuana during a consent search of a vehicle  at 1:15 a.m. on Feb. 9. The susbstance, which belonged to the passenger of the vehicle, was confiscated and destroyed.
