Firefighter Injured as Garage Goes Up in Flames

One firefighter was transported to the hospital for minor injuries sustained while battling the fire on Navajo Avenue in Glendale.

One firefighter was injured Wednesday night in a garage fire that destroyed the structure and two cars inside it.

An estimated $80,000 in damage was caused by the fire at 5430 Navajo Ave. in Glendale, which started at about 9:27 p.m. Wednesday. Damage was done to the two-car garage, its contents and the two vehicles inside at the time. There was also minor heat damage to two neighboring structures, but there is no estimate on the cost of that damage.

In a news release, North Shore Fire officials report the fire appears to have started in one of the vehicles and then quickly spread to the garage before it was noticed. The exact cause and origin of the fire remains under investigation by NSFD.
