Police Report: One Stolen Car, Two Drunken Door-Knockers

Two reports of intoxicated individuals knocking on strangers' doors, and another report of a drunk driver that was driving on a flat tire.

Whitefish Bay police are investigating a car theft that occurred in the 5200 block of North Diversey Boulevard sometime between 8 p.m. Friday night and 11 a.m. Saturday morning. The vehicle, a 2007 Honda CRV valued at $11,000, was parked in the alleyway.


In other police news:

  • A 27-year-old Shorewood man is suspected of ringing a doorbell in the 4900 block of North Elkhart Avenue and requesting a taxi at 6:28 a.m. Jan. 1. Thirty minutes later, police stopped the "highly intoxicated" man in the 5300 block of North Santa Monica Boulevard and transported him to the police station lobby to wait for a taxi.
  • An 18-year-old Whitefish Bay girl was allegedly drunk and lost when she knocked on a door in the 4900 block of North Woodburn Street at 11:18 p.m. Dec. 29. The homeowner did not know the girl and called the police, who turned her over to her parents and mailed an underage drinking citation to her house.
  • A 47-year-old Whitefish Bay woman was drunk and in possession of marijuana at 10:30 p.m. Dec. 30., when police pulled her over for driving several blocks on a flat, shredded tire. The woman told police she was unaware of the flat tire, and police later determined her blood alcohol content registered at 0.17. She was cited for drunken driving and posession of marijuana after 3.5 grams of marijuana were found in her purse.
  • Two unlocked vehicles were entered in the 6000 block of North Lydell Avenue after 7 p.m. Dec. 28. In one report, an estimated $418 in valuables was stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked in a driveway in the 6000 block of North Lydell Avenue sometime between 7 p.m. Dec. 28 and 8 a.m. Thursday. Among the items stolen were a wallet, radar detector, charger, case, cigar and cutter. In the other incident, nothing was stolen from a vehicle parked in a nearby driveway.
  • A 60-year-old man is suspected of passing $83 in worthless checks for liquor and beer at CVS Pharmacy, 240 E. Hampton Rd. at about 8 p.m. Dec. 28. Store employees told police the man and his female companion are regular customers of the store, and they will call police if they return.
