At 7:20 p.m. July 27, Mayer came into the police station, approached a community service officer working the desk and said he wanted to see “the chief, top of command, the man in charge,” then stepped back and yelled “Now!” Mayer called the officer a series of derogatory names and then yelled he would blow the place up.

All available police officers were called back to the station, and as they arrived, Mayer yelled “Come and get me...I am ready.” He continued to demand to see a commanding officer and kill the police officers there.

Mayer then lunged at a nearby sergeant, but an officer was able to get him in a bear hug and get him to the ground. Mayer continued to resist officers and refused to put his hands behind his back while trying to kick officers. He was restrained in handcuffs but continued to threaten officers.

Mayer was taken into custody, and North Shore paramedics administered a chemical restraint due to his high level of agitation. He was conveyed to St. Mary's Hospital for medical clearance and then to the Milwaukee County Mental Health Complex. He was later conveyed to the Milwaukee County Criminal Justice Facilities.

Mayer will make his initial appearance in court Sept. 12.
