Obituary: Marjorie Rooney

Rooney worked as a commercial artist, was a Girl Scout leader and worked to save the elm trees of Whitefish Bay.

Marjorie Rooney (nee Williams) passed away, March 19, 2013.

Born, August 12, 1922, Rooney was preceded in death by her parents, Constance (nee Miller) Williams and Robert N. Williams; and her brother, Franklin (Buzz) C. Williams. Survived by her brother, Robert (Susan) N. Williams; sister-in-law, Helen Williams; and her children, Steve (Andrea) Rooney, Kathleen (Thomas) Mannlein, David Rooney, and Laura Rooney; her grandson, Alex Parsons; and other dear relatives and friends.

Midge served in the Navy in World War II, attended the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, worked as a commercial artist at the Milwaukee Journal and at B.Altmans in Manhattan, before her marriage to Wallace Rooney (deceased).

She was a Girl Scout leader, worked to save the elm trees of Whitefish Bay, and was an active member of the Colonial Dames, the College Endowment, and the Woman’s Club of Wisconsin.

The family thanks the staff of Laurel Oaks Assisted Living and Vitas Hospice for their loving care. In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to Goodwill Industries, South Central Wisconsin (goodwillscwi.org). Memorial service at 1:00 PM on Friday, May 31st, at Forest Home Cemetery Chapel.
