Obituary: Marilyn F. Hackbarth

The longtime Whitefish Bay resident passed away last week at the age of 83.

Marilyn F. Hackbarth (nee Koehnen) died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on March 5, 2013 at the age of 83.

Longtime resident of Whitefish Bay. Best friend beloved wife for 62 years of Gordon Hackbarth. Loving mother of Kurt (Marybeth) Hackbarth, Jody, and Eric Hackbarth. Proud grandma of Catherine and Jennifer Hackbarth. Special friend of Scout.

Marilyn was a graduate of Milwaukee State Teacher College. She went on to be a kindergarten teacher and touched many lives as the director / teacher of the Bayshore Nursery School. Marilyn was a longtime member of Bayshore Lutheran Church. She was an avid runner, winning many awards in Al’s Run, Lombardi Run for Daylight, Dinosaur Dash, the UWM Alumni Association Run and many, many others.

Marilyn enjoyed tap dancing, gardening, swimming, reading and spending time with her family. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother and will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.

Private family services were held. Memorials in Marilyn’s name may be made to the Wisconsin Humane Society, 4500 West Wisconsin Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53208.
