Obituary: John Jess Brannon Jr.

The longtime Whitefish Bay resident was proud of his service in the Navy during WWII and with many local organizations. He passed away Monday at the age of 89.

John Jess Brannon Jr. passed away Monday at the age of 89. 

A longtime resident of Whitefish Bay, Brannon was born in Chicago on August 26, 1923.

Brannon is a graduate of UWM and a former member of the ACLU, National Organization of Women, NAACP, VFW, a 32nd degree Mason, the American Legion and a member of Mensa of Wisconsin. John was a retired dedicated electrician of the A.O. Smith Corporation and was proud to have had served his country in the Navy during WWII.

Beloved husband of Barbara J. Brannon (nee Anderson). Loving father of Judith Joyce Brannon, Kevin (fiancée Dawn Bartsch) Brannon and the late John Jess Brannon III. Loving stepfather of Kristin Gillan, Julie Greenamyer and the late Karin Stoeckler. Dear brother-in-law of Thomas (Cathy) Anderson, Linda (Paul) Egle, Anna Mae Brannon and Margaret Brannon. He is further survived by 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. John was predeceased by siblings, Edward Brannon, Jeanne (William) Byrne and Robert Brannon.

Visitation will be held at the Feerick Funeral Home on June 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. A second visitation will be held at Holy Family Catholic Church in Whitefish Bay on June 11, from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m. Interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
