Obituary: Jane Agnes Paquette

A former Whitefish Bay resident, Paquette was a mother of four and was involved at St. Monica Parish.

A long-time Fox Point resident who formerly lived in Whitefish Bay, Paquette entered Eternal Life on March 21, 2013 at Elizabeth Residence in Bayside. She was 92; proceeded in death by husband Louis James Paquette on Feb. 5, 2000.

Born in International Falls, Minnesota, raised in Fort Francis Ontario Canada, Jane Paquette (nee Tiefenbacher) enjoyed throughout her high school years the outdoor life of the Rainey Lake area on her parents’ summer island, and the snowy fun of skating and curling on the frozen lake in town.

She traveled to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to attend the St. Mary’s Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1941. This is where she met and married Dr. Louis Paquette on Sept. 29, 1942 at Holy Rosary Church in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While her husband served in the military during WWII, she practiced nursing in Monroe, WI and at Riverview Hospital in Wisconsin Rapids.

Even in her later years she enjoyed hiking, kayaking and canoeing on visits to northern Wisconsin. An active sports enthusiast, Jane participated in badminton, golf and tennis tournaments, staying fit throughout her years.
