Obituary: Grant C. Beutner

Beutner, a former Whitefish Bay resident who served in WWII with the Army Air Cops and held degrees from Marquette, Carroll and Harvard, passed away Monday at the age of 90.

Grant C. Beutner passed away Monday at the age of 90.

The resident of Milwaukee, former longtime resident of Whitefish Bay, was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School (Minneapolis) and attended and graduated from several universities including Marquette, Carroll and Harvard.

He was an Army Air Corps veteran serving during WWII in the Pacific Theater. He founded two corporations – RBP Chemical and Automated Systems, Inc.
His long time hobbies were amateur radio, playing bridge and collecting antiquarian books. He enjoyed fishing and spending time in the outdoors. Beutner was a generous contributor to many organizations including the Greater Milwaukee Foundation, the Nature Conservancy, the Wisconsin Historical Society and many schools and universities.

He was a loving husband, parent and grandparent. He was predeceased by his wife Rosemary, whom he married on June 21, 1952. 

Beloved husband for 51 years of the late Rosemary Anne Beutner (nee Mc Laughlin). Loving father of Jeffrey Beutner, Nancy (Jerry) Meeks, children Alyssa and Nicholas; and Andrea (Richard) Hutchman, children Oona and Imogen. Dear brother of Lorraine (the late Robert) Mealey. Brother-in-law of Barbara Mc Laughlin and the late Lawrence Mc Laughlin. Uncle of Mike (Claire) Mealey, Marianne (Earl) Mealey, Tom (Jenny) Mealey, Patti (Don) Lang, Laurie (Jeff) Lang and Terry (Bill) Weber. Further survived by other relatives and good friends. Grant was born in Minneapolis to Charles and Louise Beutner.

Many thanks to all of the caregivers and special friends at Eastcastle Place. Visitation will take place on Monday from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the Feerick Funeral Home, followed by a service honoring Grant’s life at 11:30. Entombment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
