Whitefish Bay Church Will Hold Prayer Service for Sikh Community

Christ Church of Whitefish Bay is holding a prayer service at 8 p.m. Sunday in the wake of a shooting tragedy at a Oak Creek Sikh temple.

In the wake of a tragic shooting at the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin in Oak Creek, is opening up its doors to pray for the Sikh community.

Christ Church Pastor Seth Dietrich sent the following message to parishioners today, notifying them of the prayer service at 8 p.m. Sunday:

"At 8 p.m. this evening (Sunday) we will open the church for a brief service of prayer to hold up those in the Sikh community who were wounded or killed in today's violence.Β  While at this point there are still more questions than answers, we open our sacred space to all people for prayer, regardless of religious tradition."

Seven people have been killed and at least three others were wounded in the shooting Sunday morning. Police said three bodies were found outside the temple at 7512 S. Howell Ave. and four were inside the building. Among the deceased is the gunman, who apparently acted alone.
