When Does Hanukkah Begin in 2012?

The Jewish "Festival of Lights" begins in early December this year, running for eight days.

Hanukkah, the Jewish “festival of lights,” begins Dec. 8 in 2012 and continues through Dec. 16. The eight-day celebration commemorates the Jewish people’s struggle for religious freedom.

The Jewish Community Center in Fox Point celebrated Hanukkah last year with a public event that included traditional crafts and food, plus music from a New York-based musician.

Also in 2011, Fox Point Patch introduced readers to the “Jewish Santa,” who delivers toys each Christmas Eve to children at a Milwaukee emergency shelter.
