The calendar flips to August, and the start of sports practice, band rehearsals and a new school year seem remarkably close. As summer speeds to a close, here are a few things you should know this week in Whitefish Bay:

Mandel Apartment Hearing: A public hearing will be held at 6:30 p.m. Monday at regarding The Mandel Group's proposal to build a luxury apartment development in the parking lots between Silver Spring Drive and Beaumont Avenue.

United Methodist Vacation Bible School: Babies and toddlers under 3 years old are invited to a very special Vacation Bible School session at starting Wednesday. This is a parent and me class from 9 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Your $10 registration includes a baby or toddler VBS shirt. Adult shirts are also available for an additional $5.
