Week Ahead: Hannukah Celebration, Holiday Concerts

Here's a look at some of the events in our events calendar this week. If we're missing something, you can add it to the calendar.

Community-wide Hanukkah Celebration: On Monday, the JCC will house the annual Hannukah celebration. The doors will open from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. for hundreds of children and families to play, drum, explore, learn and celebrate Hanukkah. Don’t forget to bring your new, unwrapped gift to donate to Children’s Hospital. 

Dominican Christmas Concert: Dominican High School students will showcase sacred and secular Christmas songs during a band and choir concert at 7 p.m. Thursday. Admission is free.

Holiday String-Along Music Party: Strings teachers Jonathan Brodie and Kari Gunderson will lead their students in a holiday music party featuring Whitefish Bay Suzuki Violin Stars and other strings students Wednesday.

School Board: The board will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday in room 47 of the high school to discuss new middle school and high school courses, an amended 2012-2013 budget and the use of $500,000 from the operating reserve to fund capital and maintenance projects, including a contribution to the Cumberland tennis court renovation project.Here's the meeting agenda.

Geographic Bee at Richards: Richards School will hold the National Geographic Bee for students in the fourth through eighth grades at 3:15 p.m. Thursday in the Great Room of Richards School.

Prep sports at home

Gymnastics: The gymnastics team will face off against Port Washington at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the high school.

Hockey: The WNS Storm will play Beloit Memorial at 4 p.m. Saturday at the MSOE Kern Center.

Basketball: The boys team will play Port Washington at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the high school.
