New Group Forms to Raise Awareness About Inclusion

Citizens for Inclusive Thinking highlights societal benefits of making the world more inclusive for disabled individuals.

A group of motivated citizens are determined to show the inclusion of people with disabilities is truly beneficial for our society and is already successfully happening around the Milwaukee area every day.

C-fIT, Citizens for Inclusive Thinking, a group of parents of special needs children, community members, and partner organizations have come together to promote the inclusion of people with disabilities in all facets of life as an important community value.

Jennifer Goldbaum, a Whitefish Bay mother of two school-aged children, joined C-fIT because she believes inclusion is important for her children. She joined C-fIT to work with other parents and community members to make inclusion an important and visible value of her community.

“I want my children to grow up not just accepting people with differences, but learning to appreciate all the insights and life experiences they have to offer,” she said.

C-fIT’s work will demonstrate the benefits associated with progressing from a society that tolerates differences, to one that truly grants every citizen a sense of being welcomed, being heard, and being part of what makes a community strong. Initiating an “Are You IN?” campaign, C-fIT will highlight examples of inclusion working in the community, and will engage the community in conversations about how to increase inclusive opportunities for all citizens.
