Waukesha-based Stillwaters Cancer Support Services is now offering cancer support services at the Harry & Rose Samson Family Jewish Community Center in Whitefish Bay.
Stillwaters began offering services at the JCC in January as part of its commitment to expand its programming in Milwaukee and continue some of the previous services offered by Gilda’s Club. Through the partnership, the two organizations strive to provide patients and families with support to deal with the anxiety and fear that is common with a cancer experience.
During Tuesday’s special celebration marking the new partnership, the JCC presented Stillwaters with a $5,000 check in proceeds from the JCC’s Laugh It Up Milwaukee 2013 fundraiser in January.
At the JCC, Stillwaters will also offer a cancer survivorship program that is jointly sponsored by Aurora Health Care and Columbia St. Mary’s.
Stillwaters provides free professional counseling and emotional support services for cancer patients, families and caregivers. Since 1994, Stillwaters has helped thousands of individuals and families in southeastern Wisconsin cope with the emotional turmoil that comes with a cancer diagnosis.
