Sponsored by the Whitefish Bay Civic Foundation, Independence Day in the Bay would not be possible without the help of nearly 200 volunteers, and event coordinators are still seeking volunteers 12 years old and up to help with kids games at Klode Park from 1 to 4 p.m.

To sign up for a volunteer shift, contact Suzanne LaFleur at dsapiro@wi.rr.com. Volunteers are especially needed from 3  to 4 p.m.

Located mostly on the west end of Klode Park, this year’s kids games include a face painting tent, mini bowling, a fishing game, bean bag toss, a lollipop pull game, an octopus ring toss game and more.

The tennis courts will be converted to a sports area with a basketball game, a football throwing game and a miniature golf course.

All games require a 50-cent ticket, and every participant receives a prize at the end.

There is also a full music lineup scheduled to provide musical entertainment for the day:

  • 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.: Riverfront Ramblers
  • 3 – 4:30 p.m.: The Back Alley Band
  • 5 – 6:30 p.m.: Something to Do
  • 7 – 9 p.m.: Southbound

Food will be served from 12:30 to 8 p.m., featuring cuisine from COA, , Marie’s Treats & Eats and Saz’s.

Last but not least, it wouldn’t be the Fourth without fireworks on the Klode Park bluff at about 9:15 p.m. or dusk. The fireworks are sponsored by .
