Drunk Drivers, Gas Theft and Caribou Closing Among Week's Top Stories

Here are the top five local headlines from this past week in Whitefish Bay:

Beer Behind the Wheel: A car parked across the northbound lane of Lake Drive Sunday night caught the attention of all available Whitefish Bay squads – and so did the open bottle of Colt 45 malt liquor between his legs.

Drunk Driver Hits Streetlight: After drinking wine at a friend's house, police say a 55-year-old Whitefish Bay woman drove into a streetlight and continued driving back to her Woodburn Street home.

Gas Theft Getaway Ends in Car Crash: After stealing $7 in gas, an 18-year-old Milwaukee man sped through residential streets before eventually crashing into a traffic sign, utility pole, tree and fencing near Milwaukee Jewish Day School. 

Caribou Closing: The Caribou Coffee at Bayshore Town Center will close its doors on April 14. The closure is a decision that came from the corporate level.

Conference Track Championships: Whitefish Bay had a strong showing at the North Shore Conference Indoor Championship meets this week. The girls won their championship meet at Homestead on Tuesday, and on Wednesday, the boys team took second to Homestead in the Whitefish Bay Field House.
