A Little Bluegrass Added to 'Green Day'

Enjoy local tunes while learning about environmental organizations Saturday morning. Just in time for spring cleaning, area organizations will also be collecting books, bikes and household items for donation.

Bluegrass music and a book donation drive have been added to the coming up on Saturday morning.

Poul & Linda Sandersen from the bluegrass band Pickin' Up Speed will perform during the Saturday morning eco-fair, where the public is invited to learn more about environmental groups in the community.

The event, held on May 5 in , starts out with an early morning workout, then a trash pickup effort around the village, an informational eco-fair, a presentation , a book donation drive sponsored by the Friends of the Whitefish Bay Library and a bike donation drive that will repair and distribute old bicycles through the Bicycle Federation of Wisconsin's Safe Routes to School program.

Be sure to bring any secure documents that need shredding, electronics that need recycling or any household items (except furniture) to donate to Goodwill.

Green Day in the Bay is coordinated by the Whitefish Bay Civic Foundation and is sponsored in part by . Free giveaways include reusable grocery totes, microfiber cleaning cloths, live plants and bird treats.
