Bay Cross Country Competes in Elite Meet
Bay cross country teams compete in nation's largest cross country meet.
Whitefish Bay varsity cross country squads traveled to St. Paul, Minnesota to compete in the nation’s largest annual cross country meet.
The Roy Griak Cross Country Invitational meet is one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious cross country races. This past Saturday, the University of Minnesota held its 26th annual competition with over 300 teams and 4,000 runners competing in various races throughout the day. The college competitions featured teams from across the nation including: Long Beach State, Arizona, Idaho State, Penn State, Vanderbuilt, Connecticut, North Carolina, and UW-Madison. High school competitions included teams from Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, North and South Dakota, Minnesota and Wisconsin.
Girls
The Bay varsity girls placed 12th among the 44 teams (410 runners) in their division. Individual times and finishes for the 5,000 meter course were as follows (Wisconsin high school girls run 4,000 m courses in state competitions):
