Whitefish Bay Business District Searching For New Director

With the resignation of marketing specialist, Silver Spring shops seek a part-time marketing guru to coordinate events, communicate with members and promote the business district.

The Whitefish Bay Business Improvement District now on the lookout for a new director, after former marketing director Lisa Liljegren resigned from her role in the organization.

The Whitefish Bay BID is managed by a nine-member board representing more than 100 business and property owners included within the district. Liljegren, the owner of Freight Train, was hired by the village to spearhead marketing and communications efforts last year. The firm was acquired by Meyer & Wallis in October. Liljegren assisted the BID through a number of special events, including the held earlier this month.

BID Chairman Tom Dixon, of , said Liljegren was an asset in promoting businesses on Silver Spring Drive.

 “Lisa is moving on and we seriously are going to miss her. We really appreciate everything she did for us,” Dixon said. “She got us thinking in some new directions and really helped us step up the quality of marketing here on the street. She reinforced the notion that we have a wonderful shopping district and a really great community.”

The BID is currently seeking applicants to fill the part-time position.

According to the job description:

The position will be responsible for developing marketing and advertising initiatives, communicating with various community groups to establish partnerships, providing administrative support to the BID Board, and organizing and developing special events.

The individual would also maintain the BID web site and spearhead other soical media efforts, and organize quarterly meetings, create weekly e-newsletters, prepare of marketing brochures and more.

The BID is looking for someone with five years of experience with marketing, budgeting, communications and leadership skills. The base annual salary is between $20,000 and $25,000. There is additional compensation potential from the Village of Whitefish Bay in connection with retail recruitment initiative.
