What's Open on Thanksgiving in Whitefish Bay?

A procrastinator's guide to preparing Thanksgiving dinner – or finding a restaurant to cook it for you.

If you're planning on cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year, make sure you stock up early, because most stores will be closed on Thanksgiving Day.

Sendik's and Penzy's Spices will both be closed on Thanksgiving. You can make a last-minute run to Pick 'n Save or Sendik's in Shorewood, which are both open until 3 p.m. Also, if you're not much of a chef, you can reserve a fresh turkey and a fully-cooked holiday meal from Sendik's.

If you feel like enjoying Thanksgiving away from the house, Jack Pandl's Whitefish Bay Inn will continue its annual Thanksgiving dinner tradition.

The 97-year-old Whitefish Bay restaurant will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, serving turkey, as well as duck, schnitzel, whitefish, lamb shanks, barbeque ribs, salmon wellington and other entrees.

Owner John Pandl said the restaurant is a popular spot on Thanksgiving, requiring three or four days of advance preparation.

“We try to make it easy for people so they don’t have to do it at home and clean up the mess, while providing a nice meal at the same time,” Pandl said.

City Market will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will offer its regular menu with a few seasonal additions including holiday pies and other desserts. City Market does not offer a turkey dinner on its holiday menu.

Also, if you're feeling a little tired, you can grab a coffee, latte or any other menu item at Stone Creek from 6:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
