Builder, Interior Designer Join Forces in Renovated Space

Susan Fredman Design Group unveiled its new space within the James H. Hoffman Homes storefront with a ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday afternoon.

If you're going to build a home with , you can now start thinking about the inside of the home by tapping into the in-house expertise of a 35-year interior design guru.

The building business that has been located at 401 E. Silver Spring Dr. for the past two years introduced Susan Fredman at Home to Whitefish Bay at a ribbon cutting ceremony Saturday morning.

After in August, the space was completely gutted, and in a period of two months, the new studio was outfitted with hardwood floors, reclaimed wood from a Wisconsin barn and old telephone poles from the area.

In addition to interior design services, the store will offer lighting, some furniture, tabletops, textiles and other home accessories.

The rear portion of the space features a design studio, and another area is being transformed into a fully-functioning kitchen and bath center.

Fredman said she came to came to Whitefish Bay to partner with Hoffman, who has been building homes in southeastern Wisconsin since 1977.

An interior designer of 35 years, Fredman opened her first store, Susan Fredman at Home with Nature, in Union Pier, Mich., in 2002, according to the company's website. In 2008, she opened another store, Susan Fredman at Home in the City, in the River North neighborhood of Chicago.
