Not So Stuffing Savvy? Local Options for Thanksgiving Dinner

Even if you don't cook Thursday, Jack Pandl's Inn is offering turkey dinners so you can get your fill.

The classic picture of Thanksgiving is one of hectic family cooking and long hours at the dinner table, but not everyone chooses to spend their evenings this way. Some don't celebrate the holiday at all, others order food and some go out to eat.

At , hostess Anita Truitt estimated they will serve about 360 turkey dinners Thanksgiving night. They will be open 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and are already filled almost to capacity with reservations.

"Sometimes families are just reduced to a couple people, families move away, and they are not always able to get together, so it's nice to come out to dinner," Truitt said.

Truitt said they also get larger groups of families, and the atmosphere is lighthearted.

"There's a lot of hustle and bustle but I always find that people are in a festive mood," Truitt said.

in Shorewood will also be serving turkey dinners Thursday with stuffing, mash potatoes, vegetables and a dinner roll. They will be open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Others want to eat at home but don't want to cook everything themselves. can help, with the pies at least.

City Market general manager Matt Lindorfer said they've had about 100 orders for pie, with their most popular being their traditional deep dish pumpkin pie. City Market will be open 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, primarily for pie pick-up, although food will also be available.
