New Business Q&A: Orange Shoe Personal Fitness

One-on-one training and phone calls to motivate members to keep up their routine, Orange Shoe brings a new type of fitness studio to Whitefish Bay.

Orange Shoe Personal Fitness was started in 2004 and boasts seven locations: three in the Madison area; one a piece in Brookfield, Chicago and Houston; and now, the Whitefish Bay location. Patch chatted with owner Tina Martin to find out more about the fitness center.

Q. What is your business and what makes it special or unique?

A. Orange Shoe offers personal training and small group training in the form of yoga, pilates, and unique fitness classes. Our degreed and certified fitness professionals provide motivation while making each session exciting and fun. This isn’t a typical gym experience - Orange Shoe members are all known on a first-name basis, given one-on-one attention, and are welcomed to feel the studio is like a second home. We believe, and we regularly see, that when we establish dedication and consistency our members succeed in achieving their best in terms of their fitness goals.

Q. What's a fact about your business that most customers probably don't know?

A.
Most members are surprised at the high level of personal attention they will get from training at Orange Shoe. Trainers are even willing to call up and motivate members personally if they have not been in for a workout in a while. We teach clients functional movements that will help them outside of the studio in their everyday lives. Recently a client told us she can feel the improvements in her posture and feels stronger than ever.

Q. What's your most popular product or service?

A. Our most popular services are our Small Group, Presto, and Individual Training sessions and memberships. Small Group Classes include yoga, pilates, strength-based classes, cardio classes, and body weight training in a nurturing and friendly environment. Individual Training sessions give members 60 minutes of one-on-one trainer attention in order to blast through personal goals. Our Presto sessions remove the trainer from the warm up and cool down process in order to slim the session down into a quick and efficient 30 minutes.

Both the Individual and Presto training sessions include our Right Fit Assessment which helps us construct a custom regimen and assess a member’s limits and goals.

Q. How does your business connect with the community?

A.  Orange Shoe works in the community to introduce fitness and healthy lifestyles to people of all ages and backgrounds. We want to help people further their health through making better decisions. We recently sponsored and volunteered with the Whitefish Bay Run the Bay 5k and plan to do so again next year. Orange Shoe works with Big Brothers Big Sisters of Milwaukee and will be offering free fitness and yoga classes to Bigs and Littles this fall. We also support TheGiveShirt.com which helps encourage the spirit of giving and promotes a healthy lifestyle.
