Masseuse to Join Two Friends' Salons on Lake Drive

Jennifer Nickens plans to open Your Siesta Massage Therapy Dec. 1.

Three friends will be reunited under one roof at 5630 N. Lake Dr. this month as they collaborate with their own salons: Fringe Hair Salon, Hair Brow Waxing Boutique, and the new Your Siesta Massage Therapy salon opening Dec. 1.

Jackie Mickelsen of Fringe, Stephanie Corbett of High Brow, and Jennifer Nickens of Siesta worked together several years ago at Actaea in Shorewood and look forward to furthering their own business ventures as a team, referring clients to each other.

Nickens started doing massage in 1994 while living in Nashville, bartending and waiting tables. She knew from the beginning it was something she wanted to pursue.

“I love doing massage; it’s probably the most relaxing job ever,” Nickens said. “Everyone’s pretty much happy to see you all the time and you get to work in candles and quiet music, and it’s so nice to spend time helping others and getting to know them.”

In 2003, she moved to Milwaukee with her boyfriend. She worked at Actaea for a year, and then started doing her own house calls and developing a clientele.

For the past three years, Nickens has operated a massage table out of her Glendale home, but she said it got hard raising two kids and keeping the house a good environment for massage, so she decided it was time to move her business out. And being with her two good friends is icing on the cake.

“We definitely enjoy each other’s company and they’ve been two of my dearest friends since I moved here,” she said. “And we’ll have the opportunity for our clients to have the whole spa experience.”

Nickens offers a wide variety of massages, including sports massage and hot stones massages. Hot stones, she said, serve to sedate the central nervous system and relax the muscle so she can release trigger points.

“My services are unique because they’re customized to each person’s needs,” Nickens said. “No two people get the same massage.”
