Mandel Apartment Construction to Begin Aug. 5

Despite holding a groundbreaking ceremony on May 29, The Mandel Group has not actually broken any ground on its 83-unit apartment development.

The development, titled Beaumont Place, will be located in the parking lots bordered by Santa Monica Boulevard, Beaumont Avenue, Consaul Place and the alley abutting the rear end of Silver Spring businesses. 

Construction will begin on Aug. 5, with the installation of a large storm sewer pipe in the alley between Silver Spring businesses and the parking lot. The construction will take place in the south half of the alley, so the alley will be reduced to one-way traffic for about two weeks.

We Energies expects to begin utility work on the eastern parking lot on Aug. 19, and the lot will be completely closed in late September. The middle lot, behind Fox Bay Cinema, will close two weeks later. The parking lot on the far west end, behind Starbucks, will remain open through next spring.

The building on the far east end, behind Associated Bank, is expected to be ready for occupancy by September 2014. The middle building will be finished a couple months later, and the building adjacent to Santa Monica Boulevard will be finished shortly after January 2015.
