Hounds Around Town Moves East on Silver Spring

Whitefish Bay's favorite pet store has moved across the street to the space formerly occupied by Gallery 505.

Over the past 5 1/2 years, dogs around Whitefish Bay have been psychologically trained to pant heavily, bark excitedly and drag their owner into Hounds Around Town on Silver Spring Drive.

Now that the pet supply store has moved to a new storefront at 505 E. Silver Spring Drive, store owner Lisa Peterson has placed a bowl of dog treats at the front door with the hopes that local dogs — and their owners — will follow them to their new location.

"Dogs are more than welcome to come in, and the treats are handed out freely," Peterson said.

Peterson said she decided to move from 330 E. Silver Spring Dr. to 505 E. Silver Spring Dr. due to lower rent and the increased visibility from being across the street from Sendik's. The current location was previously occupied by Gallery 505, which is now located at 517 E. Silver Spring Dr.

Peterson said she did not want to leave Whitefish Bay, because she's formed so many valuable connections over the years.

"We've built up a really wonderful customer base, so we didn't want to leave the street," Peterson said.

Hounds Around Town offers natural food and treats for dogs and cats, as well as toys, grooming supplies, collars, leashes, coats and hand-knit sweaters. They are well-known around town for their baked goods made with organic ingredients from a farmer in Watertown.

All of the edible goods are made in America or Canada, and Peterson strives to buy other American-made goods whenever possible. Some favorite toys include the Kong Wubba and other products from Oomaloo and Westpaw.

The store also hopes to add a couple new products and events to the mix in their new location.

Peterson said Hounds Around Town will continue to hold regular events like the Super Bowl Pup Rally, Dog Days of Summer and more.
