Event Planning Firm Aims to Move into Women's Club

Amazing Moments would provide planning, photography, decorations and more for special events. The village is checking into zoning questions, however.

A Milwaukee event planning firm has eyed a new location inside the , but the business cannot move in until the village attorney clarifies the zoning of the property.

Amazing Moments is located in an office at 80th and Capitol Drive, and owner Tyesha James said she is looking for a larger space in a neighborhood that has other wedding-related businesses.

James signed a one-year lease with the women’s club on Aug. 22 to occupy the 565-square-foot space at 600A E. Henry Clay Drive, the former home of the local American Legion post.

James said the firm will provide special events coordinating, videography, photography, event décor, linen rental and invitations. She said customers will come into the office space for appointments.

"Hopefully we will be an asset to the Whitefish Bay community," James said at a Tuesday night meeting.

The Plan Commission was set to approve a conditional use permit Tuesday night when a question arose about whether a commercial business could set up shop in a building zoned for non-commercial use. Assistant Village Manager Matt Schuenke said he would check with Village Attorney Christopher Jaekels to determine the zoning of the property and whether the business could occupy the space.

"Whether or not the women's club can lease this space for commercial use needs further research," Schuenke said.

The Whitefish Bay Plan Commission approved a conditional use permit for the business at a Tuesday night meeting under the condition that the property is zoned for commercial development.
