Meet Mandi Davis, New High School Spanish Teacher

Whitefish Bay's new Spanish teacher has worked in Latin America, enjoys salsa dancing and teaches English to immigrants.

The Whitefish Bay School District hired 17 new teachers this year, and Whitefish Bay Patch hopes to introduce all of them to the community before the school year gets underway.

Today we'll introduce you to Mandi Davis, who will teach Spanish I and Spanish II at Whitefish Bay High School.

Where are you from?
I'm from Geneva, IL- a Western suburb of Chicago. Currently I'm living in Bay View, Milwaukee.

Education/experience: I graduated from Marquette University. After completing my student teaching at WFBHS, I subbed in the district for a semester. Following that, I spent a year in Ecuador teaching English as a volunteer. Last year, I taught elementary and high school Spanish in Greendale.

Why did you choose Whitefish Bay? I greatly enjoyed my past experiences working in Whitefish Bay and am very happy to be back.

Hobbies: I love to dance! I take a lot of Latin dance lessons, go out salsa dancing, and do Zumba. I also volunteer teaching English as a Second Language to immigrants with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Wisconsin.

Favorite place you've ever visited: I studied abroad in Cholula, Mexico for a summer and LOVED it! I was able to visit the cities of Puebla, Veracruz, Teotihuacan, and Oaxaca. I ate a grasshopper, saw ancient ruins, and learned about Mexican culture.
