Whitefish Bay Filmmaker Brings Hollywood to Milwaukee
Veteran actors Sean Astin (Rudy), Mimi Rogers and Chris Mulkey star in "The Surface," set and filmed in Milwaukee.
Jeff Gendelman penned the script for "The Surface" 18 years ago, but production is finally underway on the Whitefish Bay filmmaker's compelling tale, with the aid of some familiar faces from the big screen, WISN reports.
The entire movie will be shot on Lake Michigan’s lakefront with much of it in a 1970s speedboat. "The Surface" stars Sean Astin, known for his roles in the "Lord of the Rings" and "Rudy," Chris Mulkey ("First Blood," "Rain Man") and Mimi Rogers ("Austin Powers," "Lost in Space").
Gendelman told Patch last week the movie will be "an indie gem" and he plans to enter it in Sundance, Tribeca and other major film festivals in 2014.
