Uncover Hidden Gems at Used Book Sale

The Friends of the Whitefish Bay Library Used Book Sale will be held Saturday, and a bag sale will be held Sunday.

The Friends of the Whitefish Bay Library Used Book Sale will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m, and a bag sale will be held Sunday from noon to 2 p.m.

The sale will include used books of all kinds, framed artwork, DVDs and other kinds of media.

“We have a huge variety of used books and other media for sale," Library Director Linda Pierschalla said. "Some of it is historical in nature and some items are contemporary. There is everything from children’s books, books for teens and adults, as well as music and movies for sale. Something for everyone!”

Books and media sold at the sale come from public donations. The library staff goes through the donations, and if anything can be used for the library it is kept there and added to the collection. If the library cannot use any of the donations, it is donated to the Friends of the Whitefish Bay Library to be used for the book sale.

Other items found at the book sale are library discards. Everyone who donates books or media to the library can request a donation receipt for tax purposes.

Anyone is invited to attend the Saturday and Sunday book sale times. There is a Friday preview night from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for Friends members only. If someone would like to attend the preview night and is not a Friends member, they may bring a filled out application and pay their dues at the door to attend the sale.

Proceeds from the sale go toward library projects, such as the new youth area, sponsored events and more.

In the words of Pierschalla, “Without the Friends raising money for the library we wouldn’t be able to provide many of the things that our patrons have come to enjoy and depend on. Thank you Friends, we need you!”
