Uncover Hidden Gems at the Used Book Sale

Sponsored by Friends of the Whitefish Bay Library, the sale will feature a variety of books, music, movies and artwork on the first weekend of May.

Book lovers and bargain hunters, mark your calendars now. The Spring Book Sale sponsored by Friends of the Whitefish Bay Library will be held May 3-5 at the Whitefish Bay Library.

The sale is open to the public from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, and noon to 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 5. A special preview party will be held Friday evening, May 3, from 5 to 7 p.m. This invitation-only event is open only to Friends of the Library.

The semi-annual book sale is a tradition among area book lovers. Thousands of gently-used books are sorted fiction versus non-fiction. Fiction offerings are available by author. Non-fiction books are for sale by category. So if you have a favorite author, or are looking for just the right book on resume writing or baking cupcakes, you’ll find it all at the Book Sale.

Also featured is an eclectic range of music, movies and artwork. Another popular Book Sale feature is Fill-A-Bag: As many books as you can put into a standard grocery bag for one low price. Bags are provided.

The sale features a wide array of adult books but organizers report that the supply of children’s and young adult books is particularly strong this year. Also in abundant supply are books in Spanish.

Proceeds from the book sales go to supplement the wide range of activities at the Library. In the past, proceeds from the Book Sale have funded such projects as reading programs, computer equipment purchases, speakers, furniture and much more.

Donations are also accepted for the Library Book Sale. All books; CDs, DVDs and other media; artwork; puzzles and other slightly-used games can be dropped off throughout the year at the Library. Receipts for tax purposes can be provided. Keep your local Library in mind when you tackle your spring cleaning!
