Post-Patch Survival Guide to Online Resources in Whitefish Bay

A list of local e-newsletters and social media pages you can follow to keep abreast of local happenings in Whitefish Bay.

Milwaukee-area Patch editors will end their involvement with Patch on Tuesday, but the sites will remain open for blog submissions and other user contributions.

One thing we tried to do at Patch was bring all of the news and resources of Whitefish Bay under one digital roof. As your local editor over the last three years, I thought I would share a couple of the online resources that I relied upon to stay in the loop about local happenings.

The Village of Whitefish Bay offers a couple different e-newsletter options – everything from recent crime notifications to the village manager's memo. You can sign for the newsletters here. The village is also on Facebook.

The Whitefish Bay School District publishes a monthly e-newsletter, which you can sign up for by sending your name and e-mail address to districtnews@wfbschools.com.

The Whitefish Bay Civic Foundation sends out an email newsletter about their local events, like the Great Pumpkin Festival, the Fourth of July and the Sounds of Summer. You can also add the foundation as a friend on Facebook.

The Whitefish Bay Business Improvement District shares periodic updates about new businesses, deals and promotions at existing businesses and upcoming business events on Silver Spring Drive. Sign up for the email newsletter, and follow the BID on Facebook and Twitter.

The Duke Pride Athletic Boosters are active on Facebook and Twitter. You can also get weekly prep sports updates by checking the Activities News link on the Whitefish Bay High School website.

The Whitefish Bay Public Library has an e-mail newsletter, which you can sign up for by going to the library homepage. The library is also on Facebook and Twitter.

Advocates For Education also has a Facebook page and an email newsletter.

Obviously there are plenty of other community resources, like churches, sports organizations and volunteer groups, that are not listed in this article.

If you are involved with a local group, and you would like to share information about your email newsletter or website, feel free to add it to the comments section below.
