Boxes of Love youth in Whitefish Bay are hoping their giant holiday bake sale will raise enough money to purchase 100,000 meals for hungry people through Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.

Each year during the holidays, Whitefish Bay youth team up to fill decorative boxes with an assortment of cookies, candies, and fudge that can be sent as gifts to friends and loved ones.

This year, Boxes of Love will combat hunger in America where 1 in 6 people, and 1 in 5 children, are hungry.  The children and teenagers in Whitefish Bay will spend two weeks in December baking, filling, and delivering the package orders. Baked goods include ten kinds of treats, including sugar cookies, peanut butter kisses, snicker doodles, white chocolate peppermint bark, gluten-free caramels, and new delicious dog treats.

The Boxes of Love treats cost $3 or $4 per bag, and are usually combined to make attractive holiday gifts ranging in value from $10 to $25.  Orders are due by November 29th.  Order forms are available at http://bit.ly/BoxesOfLove_2013

The Boxes of Love are delivered free in Whitefish Bay and Shorewood or can also be mailed to any place in the continental U.S. for $11.

Last year, 183 youths baked 29,000 treats and raised $30,126 to purchase 562 sturdy desks and chairs for Valley View Academy in Mathare, Kenya.

All of the 2013 Boxes of Love profits will go to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin.  All Boxes of Love profits and donations will be matched by other generous supporters of Feeding America.  Your donation will be matched, too, if you make a check to Feeding America and send it to Boxes of Love, 6111 N. Berkeley Blvd., Whitefish Bay, WI  53217.

Thank you for considering sending Boxes of Love as holiday gifts this year.  The boxes look good, the cookies taste good, and the work will do good for hungry people in Wisconsin.  Food is love, let's share it!
