The man responsible for numerous burglaries in Whitefish Bay the past 8 to 12 months is in custody. The Whitefish Bay Police Department worked collaboratively with the Shorewood and Glendale Police Departments on investigating the burglaries that were occurring in all three communities. We enlisted the help of investigators from the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office, who working with members from the Milwaukee Police Department arrested the man on 6/5/14. Numerous pieces of jewelry have been recovered since the man’s arrest. Preliminarily, two victims have identified recovered property taken in Whitefish Bay burglaries. We will be contacting the other victims of our burglaries on Monday, June 16, 2014 to schedule appointments to view jewelry. We had intended on having the victims view photos of the recovered property but more was located by D.A. investigators on Thursday, June 12, 2014. The D.A. investigators have been invaluable in working this investigation!

The suspect is a Milwaukee man who has done time in prison for burglary. He is on parole for a previous burglary conviction. The suspect’s parole agent has placed a hold on the man as this investigation continues. It is anticipated that the cases against the suspect will be reviewed at the District Attorney’s Office later next week. It appears that the suspect has committed burglaries in numerous municipalities in the Milwaukee metro area.

The break in the case came on May 5, 2014 at 10:00 pm. A Whitefish Bay man was in his backyard when he observed a car pull up alongside his home. He didn’t recognize the car or the man that exited his car as being from the neighborhood. The resident thought that it was curious that the man was walking down the block, not stopping at any of the nearby homes. The resident obtained the license plate from the auto and called the police with a description of the car and the man and he also provide a description of the man. Shortly after making the call, the suspect jogged back to his car and drove away, previous to the police arriving on the scene. Police running the license plate learned the identity of the car owner and discovered the car owner’s burglary history.
