Work Begins on Mandel Apartment Development

Construction is officially underway on The Mandel Group's three-building apartment development.

The east parking lot entrance on Consaul Place – near Associated Bank – is closed as construction crews install new sewer pipe in the alley between Silver Spring businesses and the parking lot. The parking lot can still be accessed from Beaumont Place and Santa Monica Boulevard.

The lot behind Associated Bank is expected to fully close in late September, and the lot behind Fox Bay Cinema will close two weeks later.

When those two lots close, parking will still be available in the 45-stall lot abutting Santa Monica and Beaumont Place until spring 2014, when construction on the third apartment building is scheduled to begin. Two-hour parking will also be available directly behind the Fox Bay Building in the 19-stall lot that was recently resurfaced.

There are also 30-plus parking stalls open in the recently-renovated underground parking ramp underneath the Fox Bay Building, but New Land Enterprises is attempting to rent out at least some of those spaces to tenants that work in the building. The developer is working with village stakeholders to find other parking solutions during construction.

The Mandel Group plans to provide weekly construction updates for local merchants, as well as community-wide construction updates every one to two months.
