Four-Story Luxury Apartments Proposed for Fox Bay Parking Lot

The proposal from The Mandel Group would build three high-end apartment buildings in the lot spanning from Associated Bank to Starbucks without significantly reducing parking availability.

Whitefish Bay officials reacted favorably to a Milwaukee-area developer's plans to build a $27 million luxury apartment community in the parking lot behind the Fox Bay Cinema Monday night. The Mandel Group is well known for its estimated $825 million in high-end apartment and condominium developments in the Milwaukee area, such as Marine Terminal Lofts in the Third Ward, University Club Tower downtown, The North End on Water Street, and soon, LightHorse 4041 at Oakland Avenue and Kenmore Place in Shorewood. The developer unveiled its plans for Whitefish Bay in front of the village's Community Development Authority and Architectural Review Commission Monday night. Former Packers Player Plans to Open a Frozen Yogurt Franchise

Former Packers fullback William Henderson will bring Whitefish Bay's second frozen yogurt franchise to the vacant storefront formerly occupied by What's Poppin'.

In 1996, Green Back Packers fullback William Henderson helped bring the Vince Lombardi trophy back to Wisconsin. Now he has plans to bring a frozen yogurt restaurant to Whitefish Bay. Henderson has plans to open a franchise, Sweet Frog Frozen Yogurt, in the space previously occupied by What's Poppin' at 404 E. Silver Spring Dr. Previously, a pizza restaurant had received village approval to open in the space, but the prospective business owner decided not to move forward with the business. This is the second frozen yogurt restaurant planned for Whitefish Bay. In April, a frozen yogurt chain called CherryBerry received village approval to do business further west on Silver Spring, next to Dunkin' Donuts. Sweet Frog started in 2009 on the …

This hidden gem on Hampton Road has been serving pizzas, burgers and hoagies since the mid-1970s

Whitefish Bay doesn't have any local pizza places, but it's not far away. All you have to do for a good slice is cross the village limits at Hampton Road and Santa Monica Boulevard. Upper Crust Pizza has been serving up pizzas, burgers and other foods at 249. E Hampton Road in Milwaukee since the 1970s. The menu also features cheesesteaks, hoagies, salads, sandwiches and appetizers. The restaurant is mainly a delivery and carry-out restaurant, containing just two small tables for patrons to dine at if they choose. Upper Crust has been through a few owners since it first opened its doors around 30 years ago. The current owner, Randy Schlegel, recently won the Blue Ribbon Award from TMJ4 for clean dining. Jordan Cory, a 20-year-old cook and …

Patch Readers Pick Pandl's for Best Brunch Award

Out of 11 different restaurants, Patch readers chose the longtime Whitefish Bay restaurant as the best spot for weekend breakfast or brunch in the North Shore.

After earning the prestigious title of Best Fish Fry in the North Shore, Jack Pandl's Whitefish Bay Inn can now say it also offers the best brunch in the North Shore. This past week, we asked Patch readers to choose from 11 different restaurants in the North Shore to determine which has the best breakfast or brunch offerings. Hubbard Park Lodge had a huge lead through Thursday night, but come Friday morning, Pandl's had slipped into the lead, winning with 22 votes to Hubbard Park's 20 votes. Jack Pandl's Whitefish Bay Inn has been serving Whitefish Bay and the North Shore for 95 years. The restaurant is open for brunch on Sundays from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Although the best brunch contest is over, there is still plenty of time to rate …

TJ Aliota's Will Reopen Under New Ownership

TJ's brother John Aliota is completely renovating the space with plans to open a new bar, Aliota's Pub and Grill, in June.

It's been four months since TJ Aliota's closed its doors, but now a new family member has taken the place over with plans to open a completely remodeled bar under a new name. John Aliota, the new owner of the bar at 261 E Hampton Road in Milwaukee, has taken it "down to the studs" with the intent of completely remodeling and opening the pub and grill in June. The new bar, which will be called Aliota's Pub and Grill, will have new floors, walls, and furniture, all without the old smoky smell from the old bar. The bar will have a slightly different look, with exposed ductwork on the ceiling, food and drink specials written on the chalkboard and nine large flat-screen televisions that provide a view for every seat in the bar and restaurant …
